'The Idea - Identifying, founding and exploiting a niche' - 09/10/2008

Elliot Ingram, I Need a Nerd, www.ineedanerd.co.uk

Elliot, a former UEA CMP student, set up and ran I Need a Nerd whilst he was still studying for his undergraduate degree. It was not his first attempt at doing so, he had previously tried before going to UEA to set up back home. However it wasn't until he arrived here in Norfolk that he was able to fully exploit the potential of his idea; a student run computer repair company for students. Since 2006, I Need a Nerd has expanded significantly - this is his story!

NN have secured a roster of exceptional speakers from UK Technology Strategy Board, Unilever, GSK, Microsoft Research Cambridge, BT Group, Philips, Kodak and Marks & Spencer - who are leading the way in adopting Open Innovation as a core part of their business model for the future.

Delegates will be involved in debates on how to achieve profitable growth through innovation and have the opportunity to take part in innovation masterclasses led by some of Europe's leading practitioners in their field.

The conference is directed toward corporates, SMEs and entrepreneurs, research scientists and academics, looking to build new businesses based on breakthrough technologies and innovation.

It is also highly relevant for managers responsible for creating long-term business growth in an open innovation context, those involved in new product development, internal and external venturing, incubator and innovation centre management, and funders of innovation support programmes.
